COMPETITIVE DESIGN FOR HOSPITAL

PREMIUM OF £5OO FOR WINNING ARCHITECT (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, October 26. A premium of £5OO will be paid to the architect submitting the best design for the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s new subsidiary hospital at Cashmere. The design placed second will be awarded a premium of £250 and the third design £l5O. The conditions governing the contest were placed before the board this morning. Mr P. Watts Rule, of Timaru, has been appointed professional adviser for the contest and the jury to make the award consists of Mr Rule, Sir Hugh Acland and Mr L. B. Evans, chairman of the Hospital Board. The competition is open only to registered architects who are members of the New Zealand Institute of Architects and the Royal Institue of British Architects resident in the Dominion.
