OPERATION ON SON OF PRESIDENT

MR JAMES ROOSEVELT AT MAYO CLINIC (Received September 12, 6.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 11. With his mother and wife accompanying him to the operating room and his father waiting anxiously in an anteroom, Mr James Roosevelt, eldest son of the President, was successfully operated on for a non-malignant ulcer stomach.

The President’s personal doctor watched the operation, which was performed by Dr Howard Grey, a leading surgeon at the Mayo Clinic. He reported that as far as he could tell the operation had been satisfactory.
