SOCIAL OF ORPHANS CLUB
SERVICE BARS PRESENTED TO MEMBERS There was a big attendance of members and visitors at the fortnightly meeting of the Invercargill Orphans Club on Saturday night. Bro. President J. H. Reed presided. A 28-years’ service bar was presented to Bro. Charles Campbell and a 14-years’ bar to Bro. J. H. Watson. The programme was as follows r— Songs, Bros. J. G. Gasparich, F. Jones and Mr R. Wesney; flute solos, Bro. H. Joel; ’cello solos, Bro. N. McWilliam; recitations, Mr C. Payne; quartets by the Lyric Four (Messrs R. S. Brown, J. R. Wesney, A. D. Fraser and K. W. Kennedy). The orchestra under Bro. W. H. Collman, played: Overture, “Dramatic,” marches, “National Emblem” and “Columbia’s Call”; waltz serenade, “Moon Shadows”; and selections, “The Student Prince.”
