GANG OF MURDERERS SURROUNDED
POLICE SEARCH IN JUNGLE NEAR END SINGAPORE, July 3. The police expect the arrest of Mr F. W. G. Dunsford’s murderers within 48 hours. The gang had retreated to the densest part of the jungle before the police, who picketed the area, had surrounded all sides. Mr Dunsford, a New Zealander, who was manager of the Tersang gold mines in Pahang state, was killed by Chinese robbers who decamped with gold amalgam valued at from £l2 to £5O on June 25.
Mr Dunsford, according to the correspondent of the British United Press was attacked with a shotgun and native knives. Mr Dunsford put up a desperate struggle and although wounded by gunshot he returned the fire. He was struck down and hacked to death with daggers. A Chinese gardener, who attempted to aid his master, was also killed. Mr Dunsford was aged 58 and unmarried. He left New Zealand in 1908. He owned the Tersang gold mine.
