STEPS TO CONTROL OPIUM TRAFFIC

COMMITTEE’S REPORT TO LEAGUE COUNCIL

(British Official Wireless) (Received July 4, 6.30 p.m.) GENEVA, July 3.

The advisory committee on the traffic in opium and other dangerous drugs has adopted a report to the Council of the League of Nations giving the results of its work.

The most important result is probably a new step forward in the preparation of a conference for limitation and control of opium poppy cultivation and raw opium production. The committee adopted a resolution again drawing the attention of the Council to the serious nature of the drug situation in the Far East and asking that the governments interested be requested to take very energetic steps to remedy it.
