MAORI DIES IN HOSPITAL (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 20. Percy Warren, aged 33, a Maori, living at Lower Hutt, died in hospital after suffering injuries when he was knocked down by a car at Lower Hutt. Warren had got out of a car and was crossing the road when another car, proceeding north, struck him. He suffered a compound fracture of the left leg, a fractured right thigh and concussion. SHEEP FARMER DROWNED (United Press Association) BLENHEIM, June 20. After a four-hour struggle to shift a launch to safety in a north-west gale on Saturday night, John Clinton Maling Greensill, aged 67, a single man, of Ohingaroa, and a well-known sheep farmer, of Pelorus Sound, disappeared overboard in the short absence of his companion and his body was subsequently found on the beach. Greensill, accompanied by an employee named Meikle, went out in a rowboat to move to a sheltered mooring a launch which was threatened by a gale. By midnight they had succeeded in their object. Meikle went ashore for a crowbar to make a new mooring and returned to discover Greensill missing. He located the body three-quarters of an hour later. A verdict of accidental drowning was returned at the inquest. HAND SHATTERED BY SHOTGUN EXPLOSION (United Press Association) BLENHEIM, June 20. When E. A. Francis, a farmer, of Ward, was leaving his homestead on Saturday to go shooting a dog knocked the shotgun out of his grasp and the weapon exploded, shattering a hand from which four fingers were subsequently amputated in the Blenheim hospital
