“POSITION VERY SERIOUS” LONDON, May 18. The Australian Associated Press understands that the trade negotiations between Britain and the United States are in jeopardy. It is too early to say that a collapse is inevitable; nevertheless, there is not the slightest doubt that the position is very serious, says the correspondent. AUSTRALIA DISAPPOINTED WITH CANADIAN PACT CANBERRA, May 19. The results of the new trade treaty made with Canada last September are becoming progressively more disappointing. According to the latest Customs returns the treaty has substantially stimulated Canada’s exports to Australia but Australian exports to Canada have decreased since it operated.
