LUNCH AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE
FRENCH CONSUL AND OFFICERS ENTERTAINED (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 17. The Governor-General (Viscount Galway) and Lady Galway entertained several guests at luncheon at Government House today, including the Consul for France, M. Andre Pouquet, and Madame Pouquet and Captain de Fregate Plante and Captain de Cor-1 vette Bon, of the French sloop, Rigault de enouilly. Twenty-fou rmedal-bedecked Twenty-four medal-bedecked veterans sprang to attention this morning when Lord Galway paid his first visit to the King’s Empire Veterans’ Home. The ranks included 10 South African veterans and others of earlier campaigns. One had been through the Dardanelles in 1879 and the remainder were veterans of the Great War. After an inspection Lord Galway expressed appreciation of the comfortable quarters and promised to present a portrait of himself and Lady Galway to add to the collection of GovernorGenerals and their wives.
