BRITISH WOMEN’S TITLE MISS ANDERSON AND MISS BARTON DEFEATED LONDON, May 17. The holder of the British women’s golf championship, Miss Jessie Anderson, was defeated in the third round of this year’s contest by Mrs Peel, who was 1 up. Miss Pam Barton, who won (both the British and American women’s championships in 1936, was defeated in the same round by Miss C. Tieman by 5 and 3. Miss Tieman won the Irish women’s championship two years ago. The championship is being played at Bumham (Somerset).
