LODGE MEETING

COURT SOUTHERN At the fortnightly meeting of Court Southern, Ancient Order of Foresters, C.R. Bro. Armstrong presided over a ( big attendance of members and officers. Visits were re'ceived from Court Star of the South, Court Queen of the South and Court Stai- of the Forest from Woodlands. Two new members were initiated into the order by the C.R., assisted by officers. The P.C.R. sash and certificate were presented to P.C.R. Bro.. J. Burtenshaw by P.C.R. Bro. R.. Smithies. Three members of the district executive from Dunedin (D.S. Bro. J. K. Macfie, D.W. Bro. A. Dykes and D.B. Bro. E. A. Horan) were welcomed to Court Southern by the members.- Bro. Macfie stated that the district executive of the United Otago District had made a special journey to Invercargill to honour the retiring district officer, I.P.D.C.R. Bro. B. T. Eastlake. He spoke of the high esteem in which Bro Eastlake was held during his term of office for the past five years. On behalf of the executive he presented Bro. Eastlake with a wireless set as an appreciation of the valuable work done by him for the order. In replying, Bro. Eastlake said that anything he had done had been for the advancement of the order as a whole. In honour of the twenty-seventh anniversary of the opening of Court Southern, a dance was afterwards Held and 120 were present. S.C.R. Bro. A. E. Crimp acted as master of ceremonies.
