BALFOUR

EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE The first of a series of euchre parties and dances was held in the Memorial hall by the St. Alban’s Anglican Church committee. The Rev. Mr Fellows, vicar of the parish, in declaring the tournaments open, thanked the players for their attendance. He also referred to the death of Mr W. Sheed. A presentation was made to Mr N. Marshall of an inscribed travelling rug in appreciation of his services in playing the music at the dances held by the committee last winter. Prizes were won by the following: Men: Mr A. P. Scobie 1, Mr J. Welsh 2. Women: Mrs S. Terry 1, Mrs D. O’Shea 2. Lucky table prize: Mrs D. McTaggart and partner. Aggregate prizes and a valuable silver cup have been presented for the series. ANGLICAN LADIES’ GUILD The monthly meeting of the Anglican Ladies’ Guild was held at Mrs G. Grant’s house because of the alterations being made to the Anglican Memorial hall. Mrs J. Hood presided over a big attendance of members and friends, and welcomed a new member, Mrs N. Butler, to the meeting. A report of the annual ball was submitted by the secretary, Miss H. Butler. MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB Following are the scores for the weekly shoot of the Balfour Miniature Rifle Club:— Women. —H. Butler, 65; Mrs Fraser Munro, 62; A. McMath, 52; R. Wilson, 35; E.
