TWO MORE BATTLESHIPS FOR UNITED STATES
APPROPRIATION SOUGHT BY MB ROOSEVELT WASHINGTON, April 29. The President (Mr Franklin D. Roosevelt) sent a message to Congress asking for an additional appropriation of £5,119,400 to enable a start on the construction of two more battleships. Thus there is a likelihood that six dreadnoughts will be on the ways in January 1939, not counting the three contemplated under the Naval Bill now being debated in the Senate.
