AMERICAN RAILWAYS REDUCE WAGES
ESTIMATED SAVING OF £50,000,000 A YEAR CHICAGO, April 29. The American Association of Railways has decided to reduce wages by 15 per cent, on July 1. It is estimated that this will provide a saving of £50,000,000 a year. ' “The present financial condition of the railways is more desperate than it was in 1932 when a 10 per cent reduction was accepted voluntarily by the employees,” says a statement.
