PHILATELIC SOCIETY
INTERESTING COLLECTION DISPLAYED At the monthly meeting of the Invercargill Philatelic Society Mr J. T. Carswell (the president) was in the chair, and there was an attendance of 27 members. A centre of attraction was a- display lent by the Director-General of the Stamp Department, Wellington, through the courtesy of the Chief Postmaster. This display covered the stamps known as the King George V issue and proved of great interest to the members. The original designs approved by the King were shown as well as the original drawings by the artist. This was followed by the proofs of all the stamps issued with the head of King George V. There were 54 sheets in the exhibit and the president congratulated the secretary on behalf of the society for the trouble he had gone to have the collection available. Other members had collections at the meeting and there was no lack of interest during the whole evening. Mr S. Ward, the secretary, mentioned that there would be other Government displays available for future monthly meetings during the year.
