NEARLY 800 CONTRACTS CALLED (Special to The Times) AUCKLAND, March 17. The extent to which the State housing scheme has been developed in Auckland since the first contracts were let at Orakei a year ago is provided in a return prepared by the State Advances Corporation. The return shows that 848 fiouse units are proposed in 15 localities and 782 contracts have been called and 594 let. Eighty-three units at Orakei and four at Otahuhu have been completed. Sixty-three at Orakei are being occupied and 27 at Orakei, 11 at Otahuhu and four at Casey’s Estate, Ponsonby, will be taken over by tenants in the near future. The number of units proposed at Orakei, 348, is the greatest that it is at present intended to build in any locality. Of that total contracts for 310 have been called and let. Contracts have also been called and let for a total of 127 units proposed at Casey’s Estate and for 53 proposed at Sturge’s Estate, Otahuhu.
