The Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb) yesterday visited Nightcaps and Ohai, giving a public address at Nightcaps last evening. He will leave this morning for Queenstown. Mr D. Rutledge returned from Wellington by the express last evening.

Mr D. K. Torrance returned to Invercargill last night after paying a short business visit to Dunedin.

Mr Russell Campbell, who has been attached to the clerical staff of the Gore branch of Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., for the last three years, has been transferred to the Invercargill branch. Mr Alex Sutherland has been appointed judge for all dancing sections at the Oamaru Competitions Society s festival to be held in May. Mr B. M. Castle, who has been Employed in the accounts section of the Public Works Office, Invercargill, for the last year, has received notice of his transfer to Whangarei and will leave for the north on Saturday morning.

Mr R. G. Milligan, New Zealand director of the Martha Gold Mining Company, is leaving next week on a short business visit to London. During his absence Mr J. H. G. Banks, battery superintendent at Waikino, will act as torney.—Times Special Service. The Mayor of Auckland (Sir Ernest Davis) celebrated his sixty-sixth birthday- yesterday. Inspector G. B. Edwards, of the .Police Force at Gisborne, who has been spending a short holiday with his brother, Mr A. Edwards, Roy street, leaves for Dunedin today. Mr C. W. Wood, of Christchurch was yesterday elected president of the Institute of Architects. Mr S. Natusch, of Wellington, was elected honorary secretary, and Mr W. J. McKeon, of Wellington, honorary treasurer. —Press Association.
