METHODIST CHURCH CONFERENCE
REV. A. McBEAN ELECTED PRESIDENT

WELLINGTON, February 17. The official opening of the annual Dominion conference of the Methodist Church took place this evening in the Taranaki street church, the Rev. F. Copeland presiding. There was a full attendance of ministers and lay delegates from all parts of the Dominion. The Rev. Percy Paris, president for 1938, was introduced by the Rev. E. D. Patchett, Dr H. Ranston and Mr R. S. Maunder, and was welcomed by the retiring president, the Rev. F. Copeland.
Mr J. N. Tietjens (Hamilton) was elected vice-president for 1939, the Rev. A. Mcßean, formerly of Invercargill, president, and the Rev. W. A. Burley, M.A., secretary. During the day the conference was engaged in committee work. Tomorrow the full conference is to deal with general business.
