BOWLS

TOURNEY FOR MIXED RINKS MRS LOUDEN THE WINNING SKIP The annual mixed rinks bowls tournament was held on the R.S.A. green yesterday in fine weather, the ning rink comprising Fox (R.S.A.), Mrs Hensley (Te Rangi), Findlay (Southland) and Mrs Louden (Te Rangi). The green was in splendid order, and members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association prepared morning and afternoon tea for the players, who expressed their appreciation of the trouble the men went to. The section winners were Mrs Wedderspoon with four wins and Mrs Louden, who beat Mrs Steel in a section tie. In the final Mrs Louden beat Mrs Wedderspoon after an interesting match by 24 points to 21. With 11 heads played Mrs Louden was leading by 11 points to 10, but a four on the next head gave her a lead of five. Mrs Wedderspoon gained two on the thirteenth and two on the fifteenth, Mrs Louden scoring a single on the fourteenth. Mrs Louden was four points in the lead after the sixteenth head had been played, but failed to score on the next three.
