SEVERE EARTHQUAKE ROCKS JAPAN
WORST DISTURBANCE FOR 10 YEARS OSAKA, January 12. The most severe earthquake for 10 years rocked western Japan at 3 a.m.. The shocks, which lasted 20 minutes, rattled houses and awakened the occupants. Many persons rushed into the streets. No casualties have yet been reported. Many extensive fires resulted. The prefecture of Wakayama suffered worst.
