ITALY’S IMPORTS OF RAW MATERIALS CAMPAIGN TO PREVENT ALL WASTE (Received December 28, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, December 28. The Rome correspondent of The Tirhes says that a campaign has been launched for the prevention of all waste of metals, and the Engineering Corporation has appointed a commission to investigate the more profitable use of raw materials. The aim is a reduction in the quantity of raw materials imported. The Rome correspondent of The Daily Telegraph says that in accordance with the new national economy campaign telephone subscribers are instructed to return old telephone directories if they require new ones. The old ones will be sold to benefit the Italian Red Cross. Ciyil servants have been instructed, because of the shortage of paper, to use a minimum amount of stationery.
