NARROW WIN AT MANAWATU (United Press Association) PALMERSTON N., December 27. The Manawatu Racing Club’s summer meeting opened in fine warm weather. The attendance was very big and the course was in good order. The totalizator handled £45,348 compared with £38,143 10/- last year. Results are:— MAIDEN PLATE, £l2O. Six furlongs. Out of the straight he was followed by The Bigot, Gay Hunting, Tiger Gain, Big Dook, and Catalogue. Tiger Gain improved along the back and joined King Rey, the pair turning for home with Catalogue, Big Dook, Gay Hunting and The Bigot issuing challenges. Tiger Gain was in charge below the distance but was hard ridden to beat King Rey by a head with The Bigot only a length away and Catalogue, Lowenberg and Brazen King very close.
