Miss Freda Cooke, McMaster street, has left for a holiday at Dunedin. Miss Valda Stewart, of Thames street, is spending a holiday in Dunedin. Miss Marjorie Shand, Earnslaw street, has left for a holiday in Hastings and Gisborne. Mrs J. E. Macassey, Dunedin, is spending the holidays with her family at “Carrickfergus,” Southland. Mr and Mrs Leslie Johnson, Bluff, and their daughter, are spending the holidays at Christchurch and Tunaru. Miss A. H. Holford arrived yesterday from Dunedin, and is the guest of Mrs E. K. Smythies, Yarrow street. Mrs F. Stuckey and her daughter, Miss P. Stuckey, Dunedin, are spending the vacation camping in the Lakes district Mrs and Miss Grant, Oamaru, arrived during the week-end to spend the holidays with Mrs D. H. McLean, Okaiterup, Caroline. Miss Nina Raines, Dunedin, who spent the Christmas holidays with her mother, Mrs E. M. Raines, Yarrow street, returned by air yesterday. The engagement is' announced of Enid Muriel, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. B. Holding, Tweed Street, to John Albert, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Lapthorne, Browns. Mrs Knox-Gilmer returned to Wellington with her daughter in the Awatea after a tour of 11 months of America, Great Britain and the Continent.—Press Association.
