TRY-OUTS AT WINGATUI

LITTLE WORK DONE (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, December 24. Owing to exceptionally heavy train traffic on the main lines, none of the visiting horses engaged at next week’s meeting at Wingatui have arrived except P. T. Hogan’s and J. Pankhurst’s teams. The remainder of the visitors are expected today. A fresh strip of the course proper was available for fast work this morning, but it was not used and only two horses out of 100 were sent against the watch. Gipsy Fair ran four furlongs along the back in 50 2-ssec, and Spanish Lad three in 40sec. AU the others were let off with half to three-quarter pace work, the final gallons being fixed for tomorrow.
