LAWN TENNIS GLENHAM BEATS OTA CREEK A match was played between the Glenham and Ota Creek teams in the Mataura Valley Association’s competition. It resulted in a win for Glenham, on whose courts the match was played by five sets, 36 games, to three sets, 33 games. The following are the results, Glenham names first:— Men’s doubles.—A. Melvin and W. Diack lost to M. and H. Dillon, 2-6; W. O’Brien and W. Smyth defeated D. Baynes and K. D. Townley, 6-3; Women’s doubles.—Misses J. Laurie and Hunter lost to Misses J. Baynes and I. McDonald, 3-6; Misses Mabel Hunter and Marjory Hunter defeated Misses Joan and F. McDonald, 6-2. Combined doubles.—A. Melvin and Miss J. Laurie defeated M. Dillon and Miss J. Baynes, 6-1; W. Diack and Miss Mabel Hunter lost to H. Dillon and Miss J. McDonald, 1-6; W. O’Brien and Miss Hunter defeated D. Baynes and Miss McDonald, 6-5; W. Smyth and Miss Laurie defeated K. D. Townley and Miss F. McDonald. 6-4.
