CADETS GRADUATE FROM DUNTROON

FOUR NEW ZEALAND STUDENTS (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 22. Four New Zealand cadets have graduated from the Duntroon Military College, Canberra, and have been commissioned as lieutenants in the New Zealand Staff Corps of the Royal New Zealand Artillery, according to an announcement by the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones). They are Leonard Whitmore Thornton, Neville Boaz Cowper, Errol Wallis Stevenson Williams, all of Christchurch, and Herbert Ellery Gilbert, of Wanganui. Mr Thornton graduated at the head of the list of all cadets of his year, both Australians and New Zealanders and was awarded the King’s Medal, which is presented annually to the cadet having the most meritorious record in his year. Mr Gilbert graduated second on the list.

The cadets who graduated from Duntroon during this month will be replaced next year by a fresh quota of cadets from New Zealand.
