AUSTRIAN SYMPATHY WITH CLERGY

BISHOPS SEND MESSAGE OF PROTEST

(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received December 7, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, December 6. The Vienna representative of The Times says that at the annual conference of Roman Catholic bishops in Austria the delegates sent a message to their German l flleagues saying: “In this time of grave ordeaj for the Catholic faith to which the Catholic clergy and Catholics generally of the German Reich are exposed, we Austrian bishops see ourselves impelled to express our deepest sympathy and say how much we are affected by that which is happening in Germany, where the State is systematically and incessantly proceeding with the use of force to extremes in order to eliminate and repress the Christian religion and to meet all active resistance with new penalties and persecution.”
