BLUFF Miss Dorothy Edwards, Barrow street, leaves tomorrow for Gore. Mr and Mrs W. F. Cameron, Bann street, and their guest Miss Coxhead, of America, leave today to spend the week-end at the Eglinton Valley. Miss Zona Nichol, Morningside, paid a brief visit to Invercargill during the week.

Miss Milly Miller, of Williamstown, Melbourne, who is the guest of Mrs George Ashwell, Theodore street, returns to Australia by the Maunganui on Monday. Mr and Mrs George Hicks, Burrows street, spent last week-end camping at Lilburn Valley. On Wednesday, Mrs W. F, Cameron, Bann street, was hostess at a bridge afternoon in honour of her cousin, Miss Coxhead.

On Tuesday afternoon a Plunket committee meeting was held in the Plunket Rooms, Palmer street. Owing to the absence of Mrs James Walker. Mrs R. V. Weir acted as chairwoman Those present were Mesdames R. V. Weir, F. Pearce, J. Smith, Benfell, Speer, and E. Barns. Arrangements were made for Mrs R. M. Strang (president of the Invercargill branch) to give an address on the conference held recently at Wellington. Guests at the Bay View Hotel this week included:—Mrs McKellar and Master Peter McKellar (Stewart Island), Mr and Miss McQueen (Dunedin).

The engagement is announced of Cara, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs George Pinckney, Glenaray, Waikaia. to Peter, youngest son of Dr W. H. Unwin and the late Mrs Unwin, Church street, Timaru. Miss Esther Riddle has come down from Dunedin, and is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs N. D. Riddle, Underwood. Mr and Mrs P. E. Trevella, Don street, leave Bluff by the Maunganui on Monday to spend a holiday in Australia. The engagement is announced of Joyce Constance, second daughter of Mrs W. Hinchey and the late Mr William Hinchey, Gala street, Invercargill, to Frederic Ernest, youngest son of Mr and Mrs Robert Holdgate, Rhodes street, Timaru. WOODLANDS Mrs S. Morrison has returned after spending a few days in Balclutha. Miss J. Webber, Dunedin, is visiting her sister, Mrs H. Dennis, Ravelston. Mr and Mrs Robert McKenzie motored to Dunedin for the week-end. Miss F. Trotter is spending a holiday at Riverton. Mrs Bryce, Invercargill, has been staying with Mrs J. Hannan. Mrs Johnstone, Underwood, was the guest of Mrs Alex Johnstone recently. Mr and Mrs Sansom. Hamilton, have been staying with the Rev. H. Sansom *>nd Mrs Sansom.
