12,000 GATHER WITHIN RISING WALLS (Received November 1, 8.40 p.m.) ' LONDON, November 1. The first Roman Catholic cathedral built in Britain since the Reformation was used for the first time when 12,000 people gathered within the rising walls of Liverpool’s £3,000,000 edifice, which is not likely to be finished for 100 years. Hence the congregation heard the first Mass sung in the crypt chapel by the Archbishop of Liverpool (Dr Richard Downey).
