CHARGE OF STOWING AWAY

YOUTH ON NIAGARA HANDED TO POLICE (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 1. On the arrival of the Niagara from Sydney this morning a youth, aged 16 years, was handed to the police on a charge of stowing away. Later Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., remanded him to appear in the Children’s Court on Friday. The youth asked the Magistrate if it was possible for him to remain in New Zealand to seek a position. The police said that according to the youth’s statement his parents resided at Vancouver. He had tried unsuccessfully to persuade the captain to permit him to work on the ship to that port. The Magistrate asked the police to make further inquiries in Australia.
