LAWN TENNIS The Te Tua B lawn tennis team beat Excelsior B on the local courts recently by one game, the sets being even. The results were as follows, Excelsior names being mentioned first:— Women’s Singles.—Miss J. Norman beat Miss D. Knowler 6-1; Miss N Benneworth beat Miss P. Horrell 6-3; Miss A. Stuck beat Miss T. Knowler 6-4; Miss M. Densley beat Miss G. Horrell 6-0. Men’s Singles.—l. Leal lost to P. Knowler 6-7; G. Lobb lost to A. Evans 0-7; B. Cook lost to P. Corkery 1-7; G. McLeod beat J. Horrell 7-1. Women’s Doubles. —Misses J. Norman and N. Benneworth beat Misses D. Knowler and P. Horrell 6-5; Misses A. Stuck and M. Densley lost to Misses T. Knowler and G. Horrell 4-6. Men’s Doubles.—l. Leal and G. Lobb lost to P. Knowler and A. Evans 3-7; B. Cook and G. McLeod beat P. Corkery and J. Horrell 7-6. Mixed Doubles.—Miss J. Norman and I. Leal lost to Miss D. Knowler and P. Knowler 2-6; Miss N. Benneworth and G. Lobb lost to Miss P. Horrell and A. Evans 4-6; Miss A. Stuck and B. Cook lost to Miss T. Knowler and P. Corkery 2-6; Miss M. Densley and G. McLeod beat Miss G. Horrell and J. Horrell 6-3. Excelsior 8 sets, 73 games; Te Tua 8 sets, 74 games.
