EXCELLENT RESULTS IN TEST

RADIO BEACON AT BARING HEAD (United Press Association) TIMARU, October 16. The first of a number of radio beacons which the Government proposes to erect round the New Zealand coast for the safety of shipping was opened this week, the Baring Head beacon. The next points to be attended to will be Cape Campbell and Stephens Island. The Minister of Marine (the Hon. P. Fraser) said this morning that Captain Davey, of the Awatea, was present at the opening of the Baring Head beacon and the Minister has since received the following radiogram from him: “Baring Head beacon tested with excellent results.” The Minister added that after attending to the safety of the entrance to Wellington other points on the coast would be dealt with.
