FIRE AT SAW MILL
DAMAGE OVER-ESTIMATED (United Press Association) GREYMOUTH, October 16. The damage to the Ruru saw mill by fire (previously estimated at £20,000) consisted of the planing mill and storage shed and 200,000 superficial feet of red pine timber. The total of the loss is estimated at from £7OOO to £BOOO. Work at the mill will continue and most of the men will be retained. The insurances, held by the Australian Alliance Co., were £BOO (mill and shed), £720 (timber), £320 (engines), and £240 (equipment).
