24-HOUR SPEED RECORD (Received October 15, 8 p.m.) BONNEVILLE, October 14. Rain compelled Captain G. E. T. Eyston, the British racing motorist, to abandon his record attempt on the 24-hour record after he had covered 2440 miles at an average speed of 158.1 miles an hour. While doing his run he established a new record for 2000 kilometres, averaging 163.59 miles an hour.
