FAIR TO FINE (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, October 15. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, as issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington: Moderate to strong north-east to northerly winds. Weather fair to fine. Temperatures mild. Seas slight to moderate, but rising somewhat. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather cloudy to overcast in North Auckland with rain, . some heavy falls being likely and rain extending over the northern haff of the North Island. Elsewhere mainly fair to fine, but showers still probable at times on the east coast between Kaikoura and East Cape. Temperatures becoming rather milder. General Situation.—A rather intent anti-cyclone still covers New Zealand, its centre being located east of the South Island. A cyclonic depression of moderate depth is, however, situated to the north of the Dominion and is centred east of Norfolk Island. Winds. —South-easterly about Cook Strait and elsewhere easterly to northeasterly. Moderate to strong about and north of Cook Strait and rising to gale force at places in the far north. Elsewhere light to moderate, but freshening on the east coast Seas—New Zealand waters, rough north of Kaikoura and in the South Taranaki Bight. Elsewhere slight to moderate, but rising in the far south. Eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to strong east to south-east winds in the northern portion with rather rough to rough seas. Light to moderate north-easterlies in the southern portion with slight to moderate seas.
