PAYMENT AT MONEY ORDER OFFICES

ELECTRICITY ACCOUNTS IN SOUTHLAND (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 15. Consumers of electricity in Southland are to be given the facility of tendering payment of their electricity accounts at money order Post Offices throughout Southland and Western Otago. An. intimation on these lines has been given to Mr- W. M. C. Denham, M.P for Invercargill, by the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple). The new system will come into operation at the beginning of next month. No collecting fee, other than exchange in some cases, will be charged against the consumers, who will still be able to pay their accounts at the department’s offices and at the town clerk’s office, Mataura, as in the past. The arrangement is expected to effect a considerable saving to consumers and also to prove of great convenience.
