OREPUKI

BAZAAR An excellent display of attractive novelties, fancy work and produce was seen in the Regent Hall recently when the members of the Anglican Church held their annual bazaar. Business was brisk and the funds will benefit considerably from the sale of the goods. Following were the stall holders: Fancy, Mrs Crowther and Mrs Goold; 1/- stall, Mrs Finn and Miss Menpes; sweets, Miss N. Martin; fruit salad, Mrs G. Ferguson; produce, Mesdames Simpson, Mehrtens and McPherson; dips, Misses C. Goodsir and M. Buckingham; tea rooms, Mrs Buckingham; dart throwing, Mr E. D. Bone. , The winners of the competitions were: Iced cakes, Mrs J. Morrison, Mrs J. Goold and Mr F. Popham; flour, Mrs P. Egerton; stainless knives, S. Matheson; lamp shades, Mrs Crossland and Miss Z. Popham; doll, Mrs G. Watson; Biscuits, L. Mehrtens; tray cloth, Mrs McNay; knitted set, Tamai Morrison; chocolates, R. Lee; cigarettes, E. A. Lee; picture passes, Mesdames A. J. Bone and N. McNay; knitted ball, Mrs J. T. Simpson. THE RETURNED SOLDIERS The president, Mr R. S. Young, presided at the monthly meeting of the Orepuki Returned Soldiers’ Association. Communications from the Southland War Funds Association and the Invercargill Returned Soldiers’ Association were dealt with. The secretary, Mr E. D. Bone, reported that two members were in the Riverton hospital and that both were doing well. It was decided to hold the usual church parade on Armistice Sunday to the Presbyterian church. Mr R. S. Young referred to the good work done for the association by two members who have left the district, and mentioned that a suitable presentation had been made to each of them.
