CUP FOR SIR MALCOLM CAMPBELL

WORLD’S WATER SPEED RECORD LONDON, September 14. A silver cup presented by Edward VII in 1870 for competition for schooners, found in an. antique shop, was presented to Sir Malcolm Campbell by Lord Louis Mountbatten on behalf of the Royal Automobile Club for his world’s water speed record. Sir Malcolm jokingly referred to the possibility of gaining the world’s air record when he said: “When I’m 60 I intend to build a Bluebird aeroplane and make an attempt on the record.”
