WOMAN SHOT DEAD IN STREET

JEALOUSY INVOLVED IN FATAL DISPUTE (Received April 25, 6.30 p.m.) MOULTRIS (Georgia), April 24. Mae Wilkes, aged 30, who was charged on April 5 with uttering defamatory statements against Mrs Stephenson, aged 40, was shot dead in the street, three bullets from a revolver hidden in a paper bag striking her. Mrs Stephenson, who is the mother of three children, surrendered to the sheriff with the request: “Take me to gaol.” Mrs Stephenson and her husband were separated recently. The sheriff said that jealously was involved in the dispute between the two women.
