CHEMISTS’ DISPUTE
MAJOR ISSUES REFERRED TO ARBITRATION COURT (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 21. What the Commissioner (Mr M. J. Reardon) called one of the most difficult cases heard in the Conciliation Council was concluded today when the major questions in the New Zealand chemists’ dispute were referred to the Arbitration Court. The employers offered, without prejudice, the following increased rates on their original offer: —Registered assistants £5 12/6, qualified assistants £5 2/6, unqualified assistants £4 10/6, second year improvers £3 10/-, first year £3; and a fortnight’s annual holiday. This was not acceptable to the workers.
