51 PER CENT. ABOVE 1914 (British Official Wireless) (Received April 19, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, April 18. The Ministry of Labour’s cost of living index shows that the average level of retail prices on April 1 of the commodities taken into account, which include food, rent, clothing, fuel and light, was 51 per cent, above the level of July 1914, compared with 44 per cent, at April 1, 1936. The percentage was unchanged, however, compared with March 1, 1937.
