OBITUARY

MR W. McL. FINLAYSON The death took place at Belleknowes, Dunedin, of Mr William McLennan Finlayson, after a long illness. Mr Finlayson was well known in business and sporting circles in Dunedin for the past 35 years. During the major part of that period he was connected with Coulls, Somerville and Wilkie, Ltd., as a traveller and later as the manager of the firm’s Princes street shop, states The Otago Daily Times. As a member of the Commercial Travellers’ Club he did a great deal of work for the annual orphans’ picnic and the “bag drives.” Born at Waitati, he came to Dunedin as a young man, entering the firm of P. Hayman, Ltd., after which he joined the company in whose service he was so long engaged. He took a keen interest in football arid was a member of the Pirates Club. He belonged to the Masonic craft and was a member of the Roslyn Presbyterian Church. He was secretary of the Otago Angling Association for many years, and was elected a life member after he had served a term as president.
