EXPENDITURE ON SAFETY MEASURES ADVOCATED (Received March 18, 9.50 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 17. The Senate Commerce Committee, having completed a long investigation into fatal air crashes, recommends an expenditure of 14,545,000 dollars for the promotion of air safety and has asked Congress to appropriate 10,000,000 dollars this session to construct and maintain aids to air navigation. Other funds are sought to enable the weather bureau to improve forecasting, to study pilot fatigue, to develop highpowered motors and to conduct aeronautics research.
