SCHOOL OF MINES Following upon representations made to the Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Hughes) represented the Mines Department and company managers, members of the Miners’ Union and intending students were present. Some years ago a similar school had been established, and definite plans for the resuscitation of this were advanced. Some twenty-five students signified their intention to take the course and pending the necessary financial assistance from the Mines Department arrangements were made for a continuance of mining instruction under expert tuition. VARIETY ENTERTAINMENT It is not often that country centres have the privilege of being entertained by such artists as the Bryant company. The company was in Nightcaps last week and the clever songs, mysterious tricks and juggling feats were thoroughly enjoyed by a large audience.
