REDUCTION REFUSED

TENNIS CLUB’S RENTAL. A recommendation that no concession in rental be granted the Southern Tennis Club was made by the Reserves Committee to the City Council last night. The committee reported having received an application from the Southern Tennis Club for a reduction in the annual rental of £3 5/- for the club’s courts and pavilion on the South Invercargill Domain. The letter pointed out that during the past year considerable expense had been entailed in topdressing the courts, and the club was commencing the present season with a substantial debit balance. The committee recommended that in view of the improvements made to the South Invercargill Domain generally, and the fact that the total rental was only £3 5/- per annum, no concession be granted to the Southern Tennis Club.
