WOMAN INJURED IN COLLISION
INTOXICATION CHARGE AGAINST MOTORIST (United Press Association.) Auckland, October 19. Concussion and head injuries were suffered by Miss Violet Thomas, a waitress, aged 34, of Auckland, as the result of a motor collision in Eden Terrace late on Saturday afternoon. She was sitting in a parked small car, when it was struck by a larger car. The small car was turned completely round and over, coming to rest on its hood. Miss Thomas was taken to hospital in the ambulance. Another occupant of the small car, a man, was slightly injured, but was not sent to hospital. The other car came to rest on the footpath, both front wheels being broken. The motorist was arrested later and he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. He wqs Henry Thomas Hansen, aged 30, described as a labourer and seaman and he was charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor car. Sub-Inspector Fox asked for a remand till Friday. He said that Hansen was at present on bail which was conditional on his reporting to the police daily. The sub-inspector said that the woman was injured seriously, although her condition was reported to-day to be improving somewhat. Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., granted the remand, renewed T e bail and ordered Hansen to report to the police daily.
