BRITISH TROOPS CALLED OUT
PATROL OF DISTURBED AREA IN BOMBAY. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Bombay, October 18. The situation is worse, and British troops have been called out. Sixteen motor lorries filled with members of the Durham Light Infantry are patrolling the disturbed area. Pitched battles and looting continued all day. Ten more people were killed and many were injured. Hundreds of hooligans were arrested. Lord Bradbourne, the Governor, has arrived from Poona. He says that the police now control the situation. Lord Bradbourne consulted the Hindu and Moslem leaders separately and then jointly. The leaders pledged themselves to restore peace, after which Lord Bradbourne returned to Poona.
