Fairfax CRICKET CLUB
THE ANNUAL MEETING
At the annual meeting of the Fairfax Cricket Club, Mr J. Brownridge presided over a fair attendance. The annual report stated:—“Last season was the club’s second season in the Central-Western District competition and although in competition points the club’s position dropped from fifth place to sixth as compared with the 1934-35 season, it can be considered a creditable performance for such a small club. A regrettable feature was that the team was forced to default some of its fixtures, owing to difficulty in fielding a team. J. Joll was second on the list of batting averages in competition games, with an average of 32. He played in two representative matches and performed creditably.” The election of office-bearers resulted as follows: —President, Mr J. Brownridge; vice presidents, Messrs W. Gaitt, A. Fleck, G. Meek, J. Edie, Geddes, A. Prentice, R. Sim and W. McPherson; secretary and club captain, Mr J. Joll; teams captain, Mr W. Gaitt. committee, Messrs D. Fletcher, T. Sheridan, W. Gaitt; official umpire, Mr J. Bolter; delegates to Central-Western District Association, Messrs J Joll and W. Gaitt. Mr J. Joll presented Mr Brownridge with a Conway Stewart Life-Long pencil in recognition of his services to tire club. ATHLETIC CLUB In ideal weather the Fairfax Athletic Club, opened the season with a 20-mile bicycle road race. Ten riders competed. J. Robertson was first, G. McFarlane second and W. Pine third. D. Brown made the fastest time.
