BRITISH TERRITORIAL ARMY

RECRUITS INCREASE BY 60 PER CENT. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, September 11. During the five months from April to August 1936, the number of recruits to the Territorial Army was 20,082, compared with 12,526 during the same period last year—an increase of 60.3 per cent. SPECIAL COURSE FOR REJECTED RECRUITS PHYSICAL TRAINING AT ALDERSHOT. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 6.30 p.m.) London, September 12. The Army authorities have experimentally selected 30 rejected recruits for a special “conditioning” course at the Army Physical Training School at Aidershot. If at the end of the course they have reached the necessary standard they will be allowed to enlist in any regiment they choose. If the experiment is successful it will be extended.
