PLEA FOR HUMAN SCIENCES. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, September 10. A large number of sectional meetings of the British Association for the Advancement of Science were held to-day at Blackpool. Several newspapers devote editorial comment to the presidential address delivered by Sir Joseph Stamp on “The Impact of Science on Society,” in which he advocated that future endowments for research should be applied more to biological and human sciences, rathethan physical sciences. Sir Josiah Stamp, who is a scientist with a fine record of scholastic attainment, was this year elected president of the British Association for the Advancement of Science. He is also a well-known economist and is a member of the Council of the Royal Economic Society and the Economic Advisory Council. He is a director of the Bank of England.
