Bluff

GQLF CLUB Between forty and fifty people were present at a meeting held on Thursday night to consider further the question of forming a golf club at Bluff. Mr D. E. S. Mason presided. In addition to those present, thirty residents wrote apologizing for non-attendance and promising to become members if a club were formed. This, the chairman said, meant that a membership of over 70 was assured. The position was fully discussed, and a motion that a club be formed was carried unanimously. It was agreed to accept the Harbour Board’s offer of sufficient land at a small rental for laying out a nine-hole course, and a working-bee of all male members was arranged for Saturday, September 19. The following officers were elected: President, Mr D. E. S. Mason; secretary, Mr J. R. Woods; treasurer, Mr J. Robertson; auditor, Mr H. A. Ferguson; executive, Dr A. A. Ross, Captain A. R. Champion, Messrs A. J. Riley, N. C. Stewart, J. Mitchell, H. W. Newman and J. T. Martin.
